Let us describe our 4 step painting process more in depth:
1. CLEAN the surfaces to be painted and COVER all surfaces with protective tarps. There are different types of temporary floor and wall protection materials. We can use any type for any application. There is Ram Board which is a cardboard material that we roll out to cover floors. There are tarps and drop cloths that we use to cover floors also. Then there is thin plastic sheeting that we use to cover furniture in your home.
2. TAPE the trim, windows, and door frames. A good painter can hold a good line with his paintbrush and rarely uses tape but sometimes it is necessary. Whether the tape is blue or green is doesn’t really matter as long as you don’t leave it on for very long.
3. PRIME the walls, usually with a roller. Most paints made today have an integral prime paint. If you are painting over a dark paint you should probably use a good primer. This prepares the walls to receive a uniform finish paint.
4. PAINT walls using the "W" technique with finish paint, brush where you can use the roller, and paint all of the trim. The “W” technique helps your roller pick up any excess paint from the previous roll and uses is for the next roll. We break out the brushes to catch any painting that our awesome rollers can’t get to. Once we remove any taping that we had to do we go back paint all of the trim in the room. Most trims are painting white everywhere, but we have seen every color under the sun over the years used on trim.
After all of our painting is done, we clean out our brushes and rollers, pack all of our tools away and head to the next job leaving your house in better shape than we found it. Don’t hire a company that doesn’t clean up after themselves, that’s not right. Choose a trusted local painting expert based in Terre Haute that will treat your home with respect and give it the refreshing new coats of paint that your family deserves.
